I Passed My Degree!!!

As I said yesterday this blog will not only feature news and views about Kaybard but also other bits and bobs that I just can not keep to myself and today is one of those days I just have to digress from the main theme ever so slightly.

I have known this news for a few weeks now but the paper version of the results only came through this morning - I passed my degree in multimedia computing (First Class)! The next question really becomes “now what?” The answer, I currently have no idea so it is something to think about.

Properly Introducing The Kaybard Shopping Search Engine

I first introduced my Kaybard Shopping Search Engine on affiliates4u, this resulted in 2 new websites being added to the crawl queue, these plus the original site I had been indexing for testing purposes now mean I have 3 websites being indexed and crawled by Kaybard.

So First things first thanks to those websites who have allowed me to crawl and index their websites, the crawler is working it’s way through slowly (honest):

So, What Is Kaybard?
Kaybard is a search engine with a couple of slight twists, firstly it only searches shopping based websites, websites that help in the buying process somehow. For example a discount / offer website as these enable users to save money, a product review website as these will allow users to find our more about a product before purchasing it, cashback websites as these enable users to claim more obvious savings and price comparison websites as these will enable users to compare the price of a particular product.

Secondly, all websites are manually approved onto the crawl this ensures that only quality websites will be added onto the index. As an example voucher code websites which constantly have out of date codes would not be accepted (and also if their discovered to reguarly have out of date codes listed after indexing then would be removed). It also ensures that our index doesn’t get too big and out of control.

Thirdly, the websites will all be categorised into their website type (a site can be listed in more than 1 category) this should in theory speed up the results and also help users find more relevant results.

Getting Indexed By The Kaybard Crawler
The Kaybard Crawler is (as you might have guessed) Kaybard’s crawler / spider (or whatever you want to call it). It crawls a new page once every 5 minutes (nowhere near as fast as google can - when it was initially created it could crawl 100 pages a second across 4 crawlers).

To get your website added to the crawl you will need to send an email to seed AT kaybard DOT co DOT uk including your website homepage URL and suggested category. If accepted your URL will be added into our database and crawl queue. It then maybe a little while before the Kaybard Crawler pays a visit but it will arrive eventually.

And Finally… This Blog
This blog is the accompanying blog to the Kaybard Shopping Search Engine, I have created it as a replacement for my original affiliate blog (Affiliate Quanda) which I let go a while ago and also as a way of communicating information about how Kaybard ranks pages, tips for how to increase your position on Kaybard (the ranking system uses more than just word occurrences), other bits of news and bits of personal news will be included as well (I just know I won’t be able to keep it out).

I will shortly post a blog about how to properly use Kaybard but in the mean time please feel free to visit Kaybard and follow the instructions on the homepage and have a play.
